Rain Day

Rain days

The sun does not peek

From behind angry grey skies

It is a rain day.

I secretly like rain days. I like the sound of the drops on my roof. I am not tempted to leave my work, but bend over it and diligently get it done. Then at the end of the day reward myself with the satisfaction I have a day well done under my belt.

Do you find bliss in rain days?

  1. I do too – it’s an opportunity to hole up with a book or a movie and just relax.. No outdoor work possible. It’s very freeing.

  2. Overall, I see rain as an opportunity to stay indoors … doing something else … Actually, I find bliss in the sound of rain.

  3. I love rainy days. Always have. They offer such ambience. One of the reasons I hated living in southern California was because it never rained.

I absolutely LOVE your picture. It’s stunning!

    • wish I could take credit for it–but I did find it
I love rainy days too, as long as there are not too many together

  4. Yes, I must say that I find rainy days very cozy and relaxing, and I just love thunderstorms too! However, I need the rain to go away, so please do the “Mother Nature stop the rain” dance with me today because my niece is getting married tomorrow and needs a sunny day :).

    • have you not heard that it is good luck for it to rain on a wedding day–so if it does rain comfort yourself with that
Is some of the celebration outside?
      Are you wearing high heels?

      • I told my niece that it’s actually better for photos to have an overcast day, but she just doesn’t want rain because the ceremony is outside, and of course if the weather was really bad they wouldn’t be able to do the boat part. So, we are crossing our fingers. High heels? No, I’m tall enough as it is, so medium it is for me :).

      • I like the look of high heels, but not the comfort–have given them up forever. Wishing your niece the best day possible–have fun my friend!

      • Thank you so much :). What do you think? Shall I behave or not? LOL!!

      • not not not — have a good time for both of us (that entails dancing on tables so don’t wear too short of a skirt)

      • Yayyyy!!! Long dress so we’re good. I need to show these young whippersnappers how it’s done!

      • have someone take a pic of you showing those whippersnappers a thing or two

      • Okey dokey 🙂

  5. I agree unless like this week when we haven’t had a break from it!

  6. I also enjoy rainy days, as long as I don’t have to go out in it.

  7. I love rain days when they are occasional but not when they go on for weeks and weeks! 🙂

  8. I love rainy days, but I tend to spend more time gazing out the window on these days.

  9. I like rainy days for resting & sleeping. The smell of rain is nice too.
I don’t like them when it’s cccold & I have to walk out in it. That part is no fun.

  10. I do like rain days, LouAnn. With an average of 300 days of sun here in Colorado, those rainy days are an excuse to stay in, read a book and play Mexican Train Dominoes! And my skin likes it a lot too!

  11. I am enjoying one today. I find it soothing. I feel cocooned and find it easier to write.

  12. Love hearing the rain drops on the roof. Sort of relaxing. But I fear rainy days if it is stormy. I’m very fearful when the clouds look too dark for that can be a sign of some extremly bad weather.

    • and too many people have been hit by bad weather of late–I like a little rain and not big storms

  13. Yes, very much so. I think it is a marvel. Floods are different of course, but then so is too much of anything but love.

  14. Yes, I do find bliss in a rainy day. Like you I enjoy the sounds of the rain, but unlike you, I tend to look at rainy days as my time to relax. I find a good book or something to stitch turn off all noise, like music, and just sink in for a quiet day.

  15. Lots of rain here too, Lou. I love rainy days though. I find them very relaxing!

  16. Good long rain day in Miami today, first of the year I think. In bed snuggled with good book day.

  17. I like listening to the rain fall too. Nice to snuggle up on the couch watching a movie with my girls.

  18. Yes!

  19. Living in San Diego, we get <10 inches of rain per year. Sometimes much less. EVERY rainy day is a celebration. A joy.

  20. Um. I didn’t celebrate the rain day that we just had while I was on the Relay for Life. But, yes, the rain can be relaxing. And it helps me avoid yard duty.

    • I understand the rain may not have been very joyful in that event–but avoiding yard duty is a good thing!
