Forever Young

My nephew Eliot put this on Facebook today and I thought I would share it–the words are incredible:

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

  1. I wrote this very thing in calligraphy for my Sister who has a son. I think you are right–Bob Dylan wrote this and there is a version of him singing this and also Rod Stewart sang it. Love it!!

    Hope you are wonderful, Lou.

    • so nice to hear from you–and this would be perfect as a gift–love the idea and will probably do the same

Hope you are wonderful too Brigitte–am a bit out of the loop these days–so good to hear from an old friend

      • I am too, Lou–out of the loop. We’ll get back in the loop I’m sure. So great to hear from you as well. Take good care, my friend!

  2. Love it! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  3. Love it!

  4. May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung……beautiful!

    • it is–so often we do not realize the true poetry and truth in songs until we get to read the words

  5. Sometimes it’s good to simply read the lyrics to be reminded of how powerful they can be, One of my favourite songs – the Joan Baez version is lovely. Thanks for posting. J

  6. Always loved this song, but I love reading the words without the music. I really read them this time.
All the qualities we want people to be …. true, righteous, hard workers, joyful, strong, courageous, giving.
