The essence of my being
Is superficial at best
Barely registering on the Richter scale
Of mindfulness.
When I do delve a bit deeper
I am surprised at the artifice,
And disappointed at my shallowness~
While, at the same time recognizing that one can………….
drown in a puddle.
I really don’t think you’re that superficial at all LouAnn – and your poetry confirms my view..
thank you Mimi–I think the first step to not being superficial is to recognize it–deep, eh?
Really gives one pause; always good to do a mirror check once in awhile. Thank you!
I agree with Mimi. This poem shows exactly how un-shallow you are. Humble seems like a good word.
While we are often aware of our own ‘shallowness’ I think we are .. as you are too hard on ourselves… Others don’t see us the same way.. Diane
clever!
Diana xo
you got it!
This poem’s depth proves you are not shallow 🙂

Excellent … we’ve all heard about drowning in a puddle. Deep!
