An Annoying Valentine

Happy Valentine's day!

February 14th. Valentine’s Day.

I found two quotes that give me bliss on this day of hearts and flowers.

The first comes from comedian Rita Rudner who says: “I love being married. It’s so great to find one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life.” That is exactly how I feel. I love to annoy my husband a little bit, and he puts up with it as I am so perfect in every other way. (Stop gagging NOW!)

The second is quite sweet and funny. Erich Segal, famous for his lie:“Love means never having to say you are sorry” or some rubbish like that, did come up with a line I agree with. He said: “True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked.”

So, make of this day what you will, and I wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day.

What gives you bliss on Valentine’s Day?

  11. Aaaah Valentine’s Day bliss. Nada. Never thought much about it and sure don’t think about it at this stage of life. I think my dogs and cats love me all the time.

What else can I think of? Well your blog brings me bliss when I shoot off my mouth through my fingers. Is this an ok answer, Lou Ann?

I am not real serious here. You do know that or maybe not.

    • It would make me feel good if commenting on my blog gave you some bliss–I enjoy you “shooting off your mouth through your fingers”–Happy Valentine’s Day my friend

  12. Happy Valentine’s day to you and yours!

  13. Bliss on Valentine’s Day comes from knowing I’m happy, and with someone who is also happy. At least, that’s what his mushy card said…. By the way, Happy Heart Day to you!

    • and happy V Day to you too–it is nice to get mushy cards

      • I think so!

  14. […] the Home Front and Beyond shared her favorite humorous quotes for Valentine’s […]

  15. Believe it or not – it’s the every day things that make Valentine’s Day every day. But – I won’t say no to the extras on that day either – LOL 😉

    • we do not generally get roses and chocolates every day–though that would be nice — I love your positive spirit

  16. I’m with you! I love to annoy my husband. 😉 And I know our love has grown over the years, because there is no way I loved that pasty white guy this much when we first got married. Hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! Chocolate and dogs are bliss in my book. 🙂

    • ah, chocolate — I cannot speak to dogs–but I am glad they give you bliss, and I am also glad you annoy your husband–we have to stick together on this

  17. When my mom heard that stupid line from Love Story she said, “Love means you absolutely have to say you are sorry if you hurt the one you love. Otherwise, they won’t stick around for you to love.”

    • your mom was so right — what a stupid line!

      • Stupid movie in my mind too. Ryan was awfully cute, but Ali bugged me.

      • it was so long ago now – but you are right about Ryan

  18. Bliss today for us was enjoying a quiet evening reading.

  19. Still being together and still enjoying each other! 🙂

  20. I like both quotes, but especially the second one…if you hear bells, get your ears checked! Funny! ~ Sheila

  21. Hm. Valentine’s bliss. I would have to say it is no longer needing to do the big, splashy displays of affection. Just a simple card with the perfect words. And some alone time so I can annoy the snot out of him! lol.
